[sticky post] Friends Only

... but friendly! If I know you from somewhere--be it a community, real life, or what have you--feel free to leave a comment here and we'll see about that friending business. I generally will not add complete strangers, but you're welcome to get to know me! I'll mostly just be locking entries that have to do with my personal life, with links and the like made public.

My public fannish and literary exploits can be found at immunerooster, my writing journal, if that's more what you're after.

Spirit Day

It’s been decided. On October 20th, 2010, we will wear purple in honor of the 6 gay boys who committed suicide in recent weeks/months due to homophobic abuse in their homes at at their schools. Purple represents Spirit on the LGBTQ flag and that’s exactly what we’d like all of you to have with you: spirit. Please know that times will get better and that you will meet people who will love you and respect you for who you are, no matter your sexuality. Please wear purple on October 20th. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors and schools.

REBLOG to spread a message of love, unity and peace.

I'm in a musicky mood~

Here are some songs you should listen to!

Oah by Alexander Rybak, an adorable Norwegian singer/violinist known for WINNING EUROVISION by the highest margin over his competitors in the history of the competition. His winning song, Fairytale, is epic and pretty and will be stuck in your head for your entire life.

Many Moons by Janelle Monáe, who may just be one of the most beautiful and brilliant people in the world. See also Tightrope and Cold War.

Back It Up by Caro Emerald, an amazing Dutch singer. If there was ever a lady after my own heart. See also That Man and The Lipstick On His Collar.

How does it open? I've been setting my feet...Collapse )
What's on your playlist right now?

(click to bigify!)

Right now I'm writing a piece for the first week of brigits_flame, for which the prompt is 'harbour'. I wanted a mood that was quiet and murky, but with a lot of tension in it. The story takes place in a bar, and part of the playlist is just songs that would be played there - Jason Webley's There's Not a Step We Can Take That Does Not Bring Us Closer, Caro Emerald, Sade's Smooth Operator, etc. It's very jazzy and bluesy and on the edge of the world.

What are you listening to? :D
1. I went to see a local production of Chekhov's Three Sisters tonight! It was a crazy gig where they got the actors together, rehearsed for a week, and put on a single performance of it, complete with a potluck dinner in the middle. The whole thing took about five hours, but it was so worth it. Three Sisters was one of the plays we did in drama at Harvard, but we were poor college students with no sets or costumes, and it was fabulous to see it staged. If you enjoy depressing Russian theater, you should seek out Chekhov.

2. Getting my hair cut on Tuesday. I'm so excited. This is about what I'm going for. It's shorter than I've dared to try before (though not by a lot), but at this point... screw it, you know? I have no formal job and nothing particularly professional to do for the foreseeable future, I've wanted to do this for ages, I hate my current hair enough that I'm willing to try it, and I love that cut. I'm gonna go for it.

3. ... writing. writing writing writing. *facekeyboard*
I cannot believe it's almost NaNo season again.

day 07| something that turns you on

I had a lovely day hanging out with demonschild! We went to the beach because it was sunny and gorgeous, made a sand castle, watched some Doctor Who (ELEVEN IS AMAZING FOREVER), and she let me babble about figure skating. Thanks, dear. XD ♥

And now I will write. I have a project. :3

too sexy to exist?

A mashup of either Gaga's I Like It Rough or Teeth + Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment.

If this doesn't exist, it needs to.
